Barbara "Boo" Mangini launched her career in magazine publishing as Sales Manager and Marketing Director for titles such as: United Airlines Vis à Vis; ‘GBH; and Horticulture magazines. Under Boo’s direction, the Horticulture team succeeded in driving the magazine to $3.2 million in record-breaking sales for the magazine’s ninety-five year history. In 1998, excited by the Internet wave, Boo left the publishing business for digital—becoming the Director of Advertising & Brand Development for HomePortfolio. As HomePortfolio’s lead creative marketing executive, Boo was responsible for the design of all online/offline advertising, media plans, consumer marketing, collateral, and brand development strategies. Boo was the Creative Director of three national advertising campaigns (appearing in: Vanity Fair; The New Yorker; Architectural Digest; and others), produced two radio campaigns, and a series of :30 second TV spots for HGTV. Boo also managed the B2B effort. Under Boo’s lead, HomePortfolio’s traffic increased from 1 million monthly page views in 1998 to 10 million in 2002—establishing HomePortfolio as the leading Internet website in the upscale home design category. In 2002, Boo founded a small, digital marketing services company "boomarketing." Clients include: William Arthur (now part of Crane & Co), Vera Wang Celebration Papers, The Boston Harbor Hotel, Newsweek/AdPrime, Milliman, DxCheck, XpertPatient, Honeyopathy, and more. Boo’s consulting work runs the gamut from creative direction to social media marketing.
Boo is also the proprietor of the Etsy shop, Billy's Bungalow - featuring antique and vintage objet & curiosities.
